Ensembles

Wind Ensemble

  • For 7th & 8th Grade students. Selection into this group is by audition.

  • UIL performing ensemble (designated as the “Varsity” band for UIL activities)

  • Members of this ensemble will:

    • Have weekly sectionals either before or after school (as scheduled)

    • Perform in a variety of concerts throughout the year

    • Participate in All-Region auditions

    • Participate in Solo & Ensemble

7th Grade Red & White Bands

  • For 7th Grade students. Selection into this group is by audition.

8th Grade Band

  • For 8th Grade students. Selection into this group is by audition.

  • UIL performing ensemble

    • Have weekly sectionals either before or after school (as scheduled)

    • Perform in a variety of concerts throughout the year

    • Participate in Solo & Ensemble

Beginning Band

  • Offered at the Melissa Sixth Grade Campus

  • Meets daily in like-instrument classes (flute class, French horn class, etc.)

  • Prepares students for band at MMS

  • Beginners will perform concerts in the winter and spring
